"Bambangan"




Another dishes from The Borneo, has very unique flavor is "Bambangan". The people in Sarawak iban called it - "mawang". Bambangan is a type of wild mango with brown skin and a somewhat pungent smell. This is not eaten fresh as a fruit but made ​​into a pickle or cooked with fish for a distinctive flavor. Nevertheless, extract iban people like to eat it as fruit.

Bambangan is one of the Kadazan village people's choices for a sour tang to their food. Sometimes, the mango  is fried with onion and chilli and served as a side-dish or condiment. The cans also rates Bambangan mixed with grated seeds to make the flavor more delicious!

"Hinava"




Hinava or Hinava Ginapan is one of the special traditional dish for Kadazan-Dusun tribes in Sabah, and can be said as the most popular food among the Kadazan-Dusun.It is a dish made ​​from fresh fish meat mixed with seeds of the grated Bambangan, red chillies, ginger, onion, lime cotton and salt.The fish will not be cooked because it will cook with lemon juice extraction using either lime or calamansi (resembling Shushi).There are many different types of fish that can be used, but usually the fish mackerel, shark, although the content can also be used. Alternatively fill squid or shrimp can also be used for the preparation of this Hinava.Hinava usually a special meal during Tadau_Kaamatan.
